Russian propaganda links the emergence of monkeypox to non-existent Ukrainian “biological laboratories”.
Rospropagandists claim that the United States seemed to be developing viruses in Ukrainian biolaboratories, among which was monkeypox .
This was reported by the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council.
According to the legend of Russia, seemingly careless laboratory personnel broke a test tube with a virus already during the “special operation”, after which millions of Ukrainian refugees “spread” smallpox throughout Europe.
The propagandists also recalled the festival of sexual minorities, held on the island of Gran Canaria, after which there seemed to be an outbreak of the virus. But the mention was in the context of homophobia, and not a mass event that contributed to the rapid spread.
“The Russian Federation does not have any facts to confirm these judgments, and promotes its theories at the level of conspiracy theories. But this is enough for the Russians to switch their attention to the topic of the war and its defeat to the topic of another virus,” the CPD notes.
Recall that the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has officially announced that not a single case of monkeypox has been recorded in Ukraine.
