The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided operational information as of 18:00 on May 24 regarding the Russian invasion.
Donbass
The “hottest” of all is in the Donbass, where the invaders are advancing and trying to break through the Ukrainian defenses.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russians continue active offensive operations, trying to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian troops and reach the administrative borders of the Lugansk region.
In the same direction, the invaders launched air strikes on civilian infrastructure facilities in Kramatorsk, Liman and Slavyansk.
In the Liman direction , the enemy stepped up the conduct of hostilities. With the support of artillery and aviation, the enemies are advancing in the direction of Liman.
In the Severodonetsk direction , with the support of artillery fire, the Russians are advancing in the direction of Severodonetsk, the fighting continues.
In the Bakhmut direction , the enemy advances in the areas of the settlements of Lipovo and Belogorovka.
In the Avdiivka, Kurakhovsky, Novopavlovsky and Zaporozhye directions, the occupiers attacked with assault and army aircraft. At the same time, the Russian army does not stop mortar and artillery shelling of the positions of the Defense Forces and civilian infrastructure in the areas of Avdiivka, Peski and Maryinka.
Kharkiv region
In the Kharkov and Slavyansk directions, the enemy did not conduct active operations, conducted reconnaissance and carried out measures to create favorable conditions for the restoration of the offensive.
The Russians fired artillery at Ukrainian units in the area of Tsirkunov . The enemy also carried out reconnaissance in combat in the area of the settlement of Pasek, suffered losses and retreated.
In the Slobozhansky direction, enemy units concentrated their main efforts on holding their positions.
North
In the Volyn and Polesye directions, the situation has not undergone significant changes. The threat of enemy missile and air strikes from the territory of Belarus remains.
In the Siversky direction, the enemy continues to take measures to cover a section of the Ukrainian-Russian border and equip strong points on the territory of the Bryansk region. The aggressor launched air strikes on civilian and military infrastructure in the Sumy region.
South
In the South Buzh direction, the Russians did not conduct active hostilities. The invaders fired at the Ukrainian troops with mortars, multiple launch rocket systems, cannon artillery and counter-battery fired, carried out measures to provide engineering and logistical support to their troops.
The occupiers also launched an air strike in the area of the settlement of Nikolaevka.
Crimea
In the occupied Crimea, the enemy is forming reserve units to conduct combat operations on the territory of Ukraine.
The occupiers continue to violate the rights of Ukrainian citizens in temporarily occupied territories – they impede free movement and create artificial conditions for the development of a humanitarian crisis.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky called the condition for returning to negotiations with Russia .
