The Russian army continues its attempts to cordon off Severodonetsk, Lisichansk and Rubizhne.
Russia increased the intensity of its operations in the Donbass in an attempt to encircle Severodonetsk, Lysychansk and Rubizhne . The northern and southern axes of this operation are separated by approximately 25 km of territory controlled by Ukraine.
This is reported by the British Ministry of Defense.
“Ukrainians put up strong resistance: the forces took up well-deployed defensive positions. The operation of the joint forces of Ukraine probably retains effective command and control over this front. However, Russia has made some local successes, thanks in part to the concentration of artillery units,” the intelligence said.
The capture by Russia of the Severodonetsk “pocket” will lead to the occupation of the entire Lugansk region. Although it is now Russia’s main effort, this operation is only part of the Russian campaign to seize the Donbass.
If the front line in Donbas moves further west, it will expand Russia’s lines of communication and likely face further logistical difficulties for its forces, British intelligence officials say.
The illustrated and hopeless damage to Ukraine is a confession.
