Jodie Foster, winner of two Oscars, will appear in the fourth season of the anthology series True Detective / True Detective. The “Silence of the Lambs” and “The Moorish ” star is in talks to film and could executive produce a new installment called “True Detective: Nightland,” which was announced a couple of months ago.
The official synopsis was also revealed:
“As the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro must face the darkness they carry within them and unearth the ghostly truth buried under the eternal ice.”
In the story, detectives are tasked with investigating the mysterious disappearance of six people from the Tsalal research station. And while the heroine Foster is trying to find out what happened at the station, she and her partner come to Ennis.
Issa Lopez (Side Effects) and Alan Page Arriaga (The Shining Ones) will write the new season. In addition, Lopez will direct the first episode.
Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) will executive produce, as will Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Joji Fukunaga and Nick Pizzolatto, although none of them are involved in the development of the series.
A premiere date for True Detective 4 has yet to be set as the season is still in development.
