The latest Google Chromebook update added a feature whereby the device notifies the user if the USB-C cable has limited functionality. Cables can have different charging and data rates, so this new Chromebook feature is a useful troubleshooting tool.
“Eligible Chromebooks will notify you if the USB-C cable you are using does not support displays or is not ideal for your laptop. You’ll also be notified if the cable you’re using doesn’t support the USB4/Thunderbolt 3 high performance standards your Chromebook supports .
The new feature will roll out first to Chromebooks with 11th or 12th Gen Intel Core processors that support USB4 or Thunderbolt, and others later.
The update includes a few more features. Split-screen magnifier and Cursive handwriting app are coming to all Chromebooks that support styluses.
