Apple introduced iOS 16 – a new version of software for the iPhone, which brought with it a lot of new and interesting things. The most important thing is the new lock screen. The new software allows you to further customize this part of the user interface, customize wallpapers and widgets for mood, time of day, focus mode, and other parameters. You can customize the font and display mode of the clock, weather, widgets, notifications, and background images can be selected in such a way that they are displayed on top of the clock. There are various lock screen presets, color scheme and filter customization, photo shuffle mode for the lock screen, emoji, live photos of the Moon, the Earth and the solar system (hello Xiaomi?) and so on. Very important – notifications on the lock screen are now placed and grouped at the bottom, which should greatly improve usability.

Other major changes include breakthrough changes to iMessage that allow you to edit messages already sent, mark as read, unsend or restore deleted conversations, SharePlay and collaboration, and iCloud, which now adds more options for setting up family access to the Gallery (up to the toggle switch in the Camera app for quick access to family members). By the way, you can now quickly share the Safari tab group (and this is in addition to a number of new information security features, including passwords and digital keys). Separately, it must be said about the Live Text function, which allows you to translate texts or, say, check the exchange rate in real time.

The function of selecting objects from a photo with subsequent transfer to another application will be very interesting (demonstration below). Many other core iOS features have also been updated, including Apple Pay, CarPlay, Home, Games (allows you to track your friends, join a game, and so on), Health (now you can control your medication), Siri, and so on, personalization of settings has been introduced Spatial Audio, sports tracking in the News, and landscape mode for Face ID (really!). iOS 16 will be available on iPhone in the fall.
