The cinematic universe of “Ghostbusters” / Ghostbusters is waiting for the next expansion. This time, fans are waiting for the release of the animated series.

Netflix has announced a partnership with Sony to create a new animated series based on the Ghostbusters franchise. So far, very little has been said about the new project. It is only known that it will be led by two key writers behind the 2021 film Ghostbusters: Afterlife: Jason Reitman (director and screenwriter) and Gil Kenan (screenwriter). They will become executive producers of the animated series. It is not yet specified when exactly the Ghostbusters animated series will be released on Netflix.

This announcement was made as part of the annual Netflix Geeked Week event. The company has already shared information about several projects, and will talk about other animated works in the future. Thursday will be dedicated to Stranger Things, and Friday will be about video games.
