On June 17, an online hackathon in support of Ukraine Coding Challenge for Ukraine starts. There they will evaluate technological solutions that will help Ukrainian refugees, small and medium-sized businesses. The winners of the event will receive a reward of 10,000 euros.

What is known
Coding Challenge for Ukraine is an online event organized by the European Commission, the Ukrainian Association of Fintech and Innovative Companies and the European Digital Finance Association.
This hackathon will bring together experts and professionals to develop technological solutions that will help refugees, internally displaced persons, small and medium-sized businesses, and will also be useful in the renewal of Ukraine.
According to the organizers, the war has disrupted many private and public services, so there is a need for new types of assistance, products or solutions to support the population . Many of these needs can be met by optimizing old and creating new digital and financial technologies.

“The European Union stands firmly behind Ukraine and we condemn this war most strongly,” Merid McGuinness, European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and the Capital Markets Union, said at the opening of the hackathon on May 16. “We are working hard to support the Ukrainian people, who continue to inspire us with both their strength and resilience.”
Technological solutions should cover the following areas:
- Financial and payment services, insurance, in particular DeFi decentralized finance and Web3;
- Cyber security during the war;
- Logistics, coordination and information services;
- Accommodation and access to daily needs, including financial inclusion;
- Education, including financial literacy;
- Open category.
This event will be a good opportunity for:
- startups and studios that want to show themselves in front of international partners of the event and create effective networking with foreign colleagues;
- independent IT teams and specialists who are interested in trying themselves in a big international competition;
- all those who are not indifferent , who have cool ideas and a desire to help restore and improve the life of Ukraine.

How to enter and what the winners will receive
Teams from all over the world will take part in the Coding Challenge for Ukraine online event . For the best IT solution, they will receive a reward of 10,000 euros. Teams must have at least three members. Each of them will be joined by a mentor, namely a leading expert in technology, finance, business and politics.
Ukrainian IT teams are also invited to join the hackathon in support of Ukraine.
“This will be an incredible opportunity for many professionals to make themselves known at the international level, to work directly with leaders and leading experts,” the organizers of the event say.
Registration for participation is open until June 16 inclusive at the link . The awards ceremony will take place in a hybrid format in Brussels on June 29.
