Soon, paid features will appear in the Telegram messenger. According to the founder of the platform, Pavel Durov, from the end of this month, the service will provide users with “additional functions, speed, and resources” under the terms of a paid Telegram Premium subscription. For the first time, plans to monetize the messenger became known in 2020.
Durov hinted at what features will be included in the subscription. It will be the possibility of early access to innovations and the ability to upload large files. In addition, the recently introduced stickers and reactions are likely to be available only as part of the Telegram Premium subscription in the future. According to preliminary data obtained from the beta version of the application, the subscription will cost $4.99 per month. It will include faster downloads, voice messages, chat customization tools, and more. And there will be no advertising in the channels for subscribers.
However, Durov said that the key existing functions of Telegram will remain free. At the same time, paid features will not affect the experience of those users who opt out of a paid subscription. They will be able to view large files uploaded by Telegram Premium subscribers, view and interact with Premium stickers and reactions.
The paid subscription will allow the service to mitigate some of the costs associated with the increase in “already crazy” limits on file size, chats and multimedia, Durov said.
Telegram will have a paid subscription – it will allow you to disable ads in the messenger
