“Stranger Things 4” / Stranger Things is one of the main series of our time. The new (fourth in order) season, which continues to be actively discussed on social networks, as expected continues to break records on Netflix – in the first 28 days, viewers spent more than one billion hours on Stranger Things 4 (more precisely, 1.15 billion hours of viewing), and this a new record for both the show and Netflix when it comes to English-language shows only (no English-language Netflix show has managed to do this so far).
In the entire history of Netflix online cinema, only one show managed to accumulate more than one billion hours of viewing – the South Korean “Squid Game” / Squid Game, so far firmly holds the lead in the ranking of foreign-language series with 1.6 billion hours of viewing in the same period.
Most of the total viewing time came from the first part of the seven-episode season four of Stranger Things, which released on May 27 and had the best start of any Netflix series. On July 1, when two final episodes lasting almost 4 hours were released on Netflix, the result was 930.3 million hours watched.
Stranger Things has already picked up for a fifth season, which will conclude the current story arc. By the way, back in 2017, the creators of the project, the Duffer brothers, stated that the show would run for at least four or five seasons, but as part of the February announcement, they hinted at a possible spin-off. On the air of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers, said that this spin-off will be “ 1000% different ” from the main show and there will be almost no familiar characters in it. At the same time, the 1980s sci-fi vibe that marked the original show will remain.
Review of the 4th season of the series “Very strange things” / Stranger Things
- Netflix has been producing Stranger Things since 2016 and is one of the most popular projects on the streaming service. The series, inspired by the works of Stephen King, is appreciated for its atmosphere, acting and reference to the genre films of the 1980s.
- The third season of Stranger Things was released on July 4, 2019, setting an absolute online cinema record (at the time) with over 40 million Netflix subscribers watching in four days.
- This is the first time Stranger Things has been divided into parts – all previous seasons of the Duffer Brothers series were released in full at once, but Netflix is now increasingly splitting popular shows into parts. Previously, the creators of the show explained this by the fact that the fourth season came out twice as long as the third – the script took more than 800 pages, and the shooting lasted almost two years. The pandemic also played a role here – due to COVID-19, the film was suspended in early 2020 two weeks after the start, and work on the series resumed only in September 2020.
