The middle of summer is rapidly approaching, which means that there is less and less before the announcement of the iPhone 14. The new generation is expected to offer a new display format with a hole in the center, a new camera with a 48MP main sensor, and the latest A16 Bionic chipset based on TSMC’s 3nm architecture. But what a surprise! Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared information that the A16 will only be available in iPhone 14 Pro models, meaning the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will get something different. This data is presented in the context of the fact that more expensive models will now receive a larger share of the total sales of the series (about 55-60% instead of 40-50% in the past), which will lead to an increase in the income of other suppliers that meet the needs of Apple in the premium segment. (Sony, Largan, Alps and LG Innotek), mainly on the camera side. Note that for the first time they started talking about this back in March, but now, given the proximity of the announcement and the status of Ming-Chi Kuo, this decision seems to be final.
If all available information is confirmed, then the younger versions of the iPhone will be a minimal upgrade against the background of the iPhone 13, where only the camera will change, and the display (including the eyebrow) and hardware will remain unchanged. This will allow Apple to keep the current price tags on them, but the Pro series is expected to go up. All answers will be received at the beginning of September.
