A new batch of rumors about the future protected watch Apple Watch was published by Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman. So, he claims that the “extreme” version of the smart watch will receive not only a more durable metal case in a new design, but also a larger screen.
Mark estimates that the Apple Watch Explorer Edition will have a screen size of about 2 inches, which is 7% larger than the largest 1.9-inch Apple Watch 6/7 (45 mm) to date. In addition to the size of the matrix will receive a new coating with stronger protection against scratches.
The case will become not only stronger, but also larger, which means that developers will be able to integrate a more capacious battery into it, increasing autonomy. It will be made of a durable alloy – that is, it will almost certainly be stainless steel, not aluminum.
Recall that Apple has already released watches in stainless steel and titanium, as well as with sapphire crystal. However, due to the high price and “fragility”, such models were focused more on entrepreneurs than on athletes. The new watch will retain its high cost (the price tag is expected to be at least $699), however, in terms of its characteristics, it will compete with recognized class leaders from Garmin, Polar, etc.
From the same leak, it became known about plans to release an updated model of Apple Watch SE, which will receive the functionality of older models without the most expensive features. At the same time, all three new items (Apple Watch 8, Apple Watch Explorer Edition and Apple Watch SE 2) will be based on the next generation of the Apple S8 chipset.
