Nubia presented Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro – updated gaming phones for 2022. The main innovation, as expected, was the transition to the improved Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, the fight against the hot temper of which is also performed by an advanced active cooling system. This is a complex multi-layer construction, the main element of which is a mini-turbine (20,000 rpm) built under the lid, paired with a 4124 mm² evaporation chamber. Due to this, the peak temperature during a 30-minute session in Genshin Impact (with maximum graphics) does not exceed 39.5 degrees Celsius at a stable 60 fps. The dedicated Red Core 1 chip, which takes over the processing of sound, light, vibration and touchscreen, has not gone anywhere.

Other few changes include an increased to 520 Hz readout speed of the triggers on the side face and new colors. The rest of the filling is familiar: 6.8 “AMOLED screens (165 Hz and Red Magic 7S and 120 Hz for the firmware, which instead of a lower frequency offers a sub-screen front camera), triple cameras 64 + 8 + 2 MP, stereo speakers, 3.5 -mm audio jacks, and paired linear vibration motors.

Both devices come with a 165-watt charger, but they can accept a little less (120 and 135 watts in the case of Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro, respectively. Traditionally, both models received regular and “transparent” versions. So, the most affordable option is Nubia Red Magic 7S (8/128 GB) will cost 3999 yuan, and the most expensive with a transparent cover and 16/512 GB of memory – 5499 yuan.

In the case of the top Red Magic 7 Pro, everything is more interesting. Starting from 5199 yuan for the regular 12/256 GB version, the device is also available in “transparent” and two unique colors: silver and yellow BumbleBee Edition, dedicated to the eponymous hero of the Transformers universe. It comes exclusively in 16/512 GB configuration and costs 500 yuan more than the regular models at 6499 yuan.
