The National Bank of Ukraine has put into circulation commemorative coins “Unity is Strength”, dedicated to the national unity of the Ukrainian people in the fight against the Russian aggressor and the international support provided to Ukraine by the whole world.
The coins were presented by Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Oleksiy Shaban during a meeting with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova and representatives of embassies from 12 countries: France, Japan, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Canada, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Sweden, the United States of America , Czech Republic, Italy. Flags, including those of these countries, providing Ukraine with comprehensive assistance: humanitarian, economic, security and military, which are depicted on the reverse of the commemorative coins “In Unity – Strength”.
“Assistance to Ukraine and financial pressure on the aggressor is a powerful and indispensable weapon in this war. Disconnection of key Russian banks from SWIFT, suspension of its membership and restriction of access to participation in events and projects of international financial organizations, prohibition of payments in rubles, suspension of the provision of services by the largest trading and information platforms Refinitiv and Bloomberg LP in Russia and Belarus, conclusion of hryvnia exchange agreements with a number of European central banks and many other measures step by step confidently bring Ukraine’s victory closer,” said Oleksiy Shaban, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank. – We are sincerely grateful for the support of our international partners and strive to perpetuate their efforts and gratitude in commemorative coins, which we are pleased to present today. They are symbolically dedicated to the strength of the unity of the countries of the world, which, despite the scale of the threat, is able to protect life, freedom and justice.”

But in fact, the whole civilized world is fighting together with Ukraine – for the values of freedom and democracy. And this war demonstrates more than ever that there is strength in unity. I believe that together we will win,” said Emina Dzhaparova, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Commemorative coins “In unity is strength” start a new series “My Ukraine is Immortal”. These are the first coins that the National Bank puts into circulation during the war. From idea to release, they were created in wartime conditions to the sound of air raid sirens.
The obverse of the commemorative coins “In unity is strength” is reproduced based on the sketch “Unity is strength” by Alina Malyuta, which was included in the top five sketches based on the results of an open vote for the best sketch, which was held by the National Bank in April this year. The reverse is based on the sketch “Help from Partner Countries” by Sergei Topkin, who also took part in the competition.
On the obverse of the coins in the center is the Trident – the small State Emblem of Ukraine, around which is depicted a stylized symbolic composition of the unity of people of good will around the world – hands are connected in pairs, closed in a circle and wrapped in a blue-yellow ribbon (color printing / pad printing was used).
On the reverse of the coins, at the top, there are inscriptions in two languages in a semicircle – “In unity is strength” / IN UNITY STRENGTH. Under the inscriptions – a stylized composition of colored flags (color printing / pad printing was used) of 15 countries that comprehensively help Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor: the United States of America, Great Britain, Poland, Canada, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Sweden , Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan.
The coin “In unity is strength” with a denomination of 10 hryvnias is made of 925 silver, the minting quality category is “special uncirculated”, the pure weight of the precious metal is 31.1 g, the diameter is 38.6 mm, the mintage is up to 5,000 things. The 5-hryvnia coin “In unity is strength” is made of nickel silver, minting quality category is “special uncirculated”, weight is 16.5 g, diameter is 35.0 mm, mintage is up to 250,000 pieces (including up to 75,000 in 20 in souvenir packaging).
