Exactly two weeks after the demonstration of the final design, the Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company officially announced the production version of the Hyundai IONIQ 6 electric car. The model is a sedan with the most aerodynamic “sloping” silhouette, its overall dimensions are 4855x1880x1495 mm (wheelbase – 2950 mm).
Just like other brothers in the IONIQ line , the novelty is based on the proprietary Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) platform with support for 400/800 V charging architecture. Buyers will be offered a single-engine rear-wheel drive version of the RWD or a twin-engine all-wheel drive version of the AWD. In the latter case, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 electric car will receive a power of 239 kW and a torque of 605 Nm, which allows it to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds.
It will also be possible to choose two battery options – 53 kWh or 77.4 kWh, a more capacious option will provide a range of 610 km on the WLTP measuring cycle. From a powerful 350 kW high-speed charge, it takes only 18 minutes to charge from 10 to 80% of the battery capacity. It also supports V2L (vehicle-to-load) technology, which turns an electric car into a mobile power generator.
The driver gets at his disposal two 12-inch screens with basic digital data and additional / entertainment information, respectively. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems are supported, as well as dual-channel Bluetooth connection with smartphones, for example, you can use one for calls and the other for streaming music at the same time.
Naturally, not without digital assistants – the driver receives a whole complex under the general name Hyundai SmartSense (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). It includes systems: Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Driver Attention Warning ( DAW), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Safe Exit Warning (SEW), Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2), Surround View Monitor (SVM), Forward/Side /Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA). The systems are updated “over the air” (Over-the-Air, OTA).
Serial assembly of the Hyundai IONIQ 6 will start in the third quarter of the current 2022, the exact dates for the model to enter the markets of specific countries will be announced later.
