Corsair has released a new gaming keyboard called the Corsair K70 Pro Mini Wireless. Its specialty is that it is the company’s first mechanical keyboard with hot-swappable switches. If necessary, the user will be able to independently remove and replace the switches. This is done easily with the included tool. This does not require soldering.
Hot-swap switches are becoming more and more popular on enthusiast mechanical keyboards. This feature allows you to get a completely different typing experience without having to buy a new keyboard. This feature also provides an opportunity to try less common hobbyist switches that are hard to find pre-installed on standard keyboards. The Corsair K70 Pro Mini Wireless only supports 3-pin switches. Thus, if the owner wants to install five-pin switches, they will probably have to cut off additional plastic contacts.
Out of the box, the Corsair K70 Pro Mini Wireless keyboard is available with Cherry MX Red or Cherry MX Speed Silver switches. Both types are linear. This means that there is no noticeable bump when typing. At the same time, Silver switches are designed for gamers and provide faster response.
The novelty has a compact 60 percent layout, which does not include a set of dedicated arrow keys. It also includes durable PBT keycaps and RGB lighting. Battery life is up to 200 hours with the backlight off and up to 32 hours with the backlight active.
The Corsair K70 Pro Mini Wireless will go on sale for $179.99 (£169.99 / €189.99).
