Qualcomm has introduced a new generation of hardware for wearable accessories, which is represented by two models at once – Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and W5 + Gen 1. Here the company has worked on everything: energy efficiency (+ 50%), performance (2 times), functionality (2 times times) and compactness (+30%). And all thanks to the new architecture, where the main chipset is made according to 4nm architecture, and the auxiliary coprocessor is 22nm (Snapdragon Wear 4100+, for example, has 12/28nm). In addition, Snapdragon W5+ includes Bluetooth 5.3 and economical Wi-Fi (802.11n), GNSS and audio components. The structure includes four Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of up to 1.7 GHz, one Cortex-M55 at 250 MHz, a 1 GHz Adreno A702 graphics engine, an AI U55 chip, LPDDR4 memory. Qualcomm has also received support from Google and WearOS. The first new hardware will be offered by OPPO and Mobvoi. OPPO, for example, promised Watch 3 as early as August.
