At the beginning of the week, Google began distributing an update for its payment application in Ukraine and 38 other countries around the world: the application that we all used to know as Google Pay is now called Google Wallet, and in Ukrainian – Google Gamanets. On July 20, a new application appeared in the Ukrainian Play Store.
From Google Pay to Google Gamanets
Recall that Google announced the rebranding of Google Pay to Google Wallet at the May I/O conference. And now, a little more than two months later, Google Gamanets reached Ukraine. In addition to the redesign, the update has several functional improvements that stem from the new (old) name of the service.
Google Gamanets standardizes how key digital items such as payment cards, travel and event tickets, boarding passes, and loyalty cards are stored and accessed. All this can now be stored in one application.
Key Features of Google Gamanets
- Quick access to the required maps – through the quick settings of the phone, the Google Gamanets application on the main screen and the Google Assistant service.
- Storing cards and tickets on your phone – travel by public transport, attend concerts and accumulate loyalty points in your favorite stores.
- Important notifications at the right time – among other things, the function can remind you of flights and store boarding passes.
- Purchase tracking – View details of transactions, including where they were made, based on data from Google Maps.
- Full integration with other Google products – thanks to the synchronization of Gamantz, Calendar and Assistant, you can receive timely notifications of any changes in the flight and scheduled events.
- The ability to view point balances and loyalty program bonuses on Cards, Shopping and other services to save money while shopping.
- Ability to import from Gmail maps, travel documents, loyalty cards, etc.
Privacy and security are the cornerstone of Google Gamanets and users can simply adjust all privacy settings. Personal documents will not be transferred without permission even to Google, and if the phone is lost or stolen, it is possible to find, block or erase data from it using the Find My Device function .
Availability
The Google Gamanetz app is available for all Android phones and Wear OS devices (Lollipop 5.0 and later) and will be available to all users over the next two days. Users with automatic updates enabled will see their Google Pay app updated automatically on Google Play, while those with automatic updates disabled will need to manually update the app from Google Play.
