The Last of Us was released in 2013, and while it was considered one of the best games at the time due to its story, characters, and overall direction, the gameplay was controversial. Some found the game too heavy and slow. However, its sequel, The Last of Us Part II, was much smoother and more engaging. And after the announcement of the remake, fans hoped to see changes in the gameplay in it.

The leaked screenshots and short gameplay videos of The Last of Us Part 1 show just how much combat has changed in the remake. For the most part, it looks like an improved version of combat from the original game, rather than an evolution of The Last of Us Part II gameplay. In the sequel, players could dive, dodge, and crawl. It looks like the remake doesn’t have those features, at least not for Joel. Although from The Last of Us Part II, a workbench was transferred to the remake with detailed animation to improve weapons and equipment.
