See Through View

In the pictures below you can see the window with the main settings of the PlayStation VR2, as well as a look at the PS VR2 Sense controllers through the special See-Through View mode.

The See-Through View feature will allow you to see the cordon as it is through the built-in cameras if necessary – without having to remove the headset. This feature comes in handy if the headset is already on your head and you need to quickly check where the PS VR2 Sense controllers are in the room. To switch between virtual and reality modes, a special physical button on the case is provided. You can also do this through the corresponding menu item in the Control Center. The picture in See-Through View mode will be black and white, and video recording from cameras will not be allowed.

Stream while playing

A new live streaming feature will allow PS VR2 owners to film themselves in-game by connecting a PS5 HD camera to the console and broadcast content to their audience. In this case, viewers will be able to see both the gameplay and the player himself at the same time – his image will be displayed on top of the image from the game, as in the image above.

Individual play area

The play area will be configured using PS VR2 Sense controllers and built-in cameras. Cameras allow you to scan a room to determine its boundaries and objects around it, while PS VR2 Sense controllers allow you to expand and further customize the play area as needed to suit your individual play style and interior features of the room.

The system will notify you of the risk of departure from the playing area. In addition, you can move to another room at any time and change the settings through the headset menu.

PS VR2 will support two content viewing modes:

  • VR mode – full VR experience with 4000×2400 pixels (2000×2040 per eye), HDR, 110° field of view (10° more than the original PS VR) and 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate .
  • Cinematic Mode – A virtual cinema experience that will showcase the PS5 system and interface, as well as all non-VR games and media content. At the same time, a signal with a resolution of 1920 × 1080, HDR and an image refresh rate of 24, 60 or 120 Hz is supported.

All the features described above will become available to all developers in the near future with the release of a future update within the current development cycle. At the same time, Sony promises to give additional details about the future of VR on the PlayStation very soon – to name the exact date of the start of sales and game announcements.

Previously, PlayStation leader Jim Ryan promised more than 20 games from internal and external studios at the launch of PS VR 2. Apparently, the PlayStation VR2 will indeed be released in early 2023, as previously reported, and a full presentation of the device and games will take place before the end of the year.

Production of PlayStation VR2 will begin in the second half of 2022, and the release is scheduled for early 2023 – Ming-Chi Kuo
