ASUS held a short 20-minute presentation today, which showed the new generation of Zenfone. This year, only one model entered the lineup, continuing the idea of last year’s Zenfone 9: maximum capabilities in a compact body. Above the case, by the way, they worked separately: a pleasant to the touch coating is promised, which provides a strong grip and does not collect fingerprints.
To make it even more convenient to use the phone with one hand, ASUS has built a touch zone into the fingerprint scanner, combined with the lock button. With it, you can scroll through lists, open the “curtain” and so on. There are also more traditional features: gestures by tapping on the lid and a menu of favorite applications, opened with a swipe from the end. Using the phone with one hand can be relevant in the context of extreme hobbies – for such scenarios, water protection and a branded case for attaching to a backpack belt are also provided for such scenarios. It holds the phone on a tether to keep it from falling if you accidentally drop it.
Improvements in the camera are also aimed at extreme people. Shirik and the selfie module remained unchanged, but the main camera was powerfully pumped. It is now based on a 50 MP IMX766 sensor and equipped with a six-axis gimbal stabilization system that can correct deviations up to 3 degrees. EIS also works on top of it, and ASUS says that it “used the best algorithms it could find” (apparently, they didn’t even try to develop in this area). The camera also received a new Light Trail mode; the company praises him very much, but does not explain what it is.
Hardware, of course, is top-end: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of ROM. The screen has not changed significantly since last year: 5.9″, 2400×1080 pixels, 120 Hz, AMOLED manufactured by Samsung. ASUS has not forgotten about the audio component either: microphones support OZO Audio technology, and stereo speakers are configured by Dirac. There is also a 3.5 mm jack for headphones, which is often removed from larger flagships, as there is “not enough space”. At the same time, the battery was also increased – up to 4300 mAh. But there was not enough space for the controller for fast charging – only 30 W. At the same time, charging is in included, as well as a cover. The price of the minimum version for 8 + 128 GB is 799 euros (49,000 rubles).
