The Japanese company Panasonic introduced the Toughbook FZ-N1 Flat smartphone to the home market. This is a simplified version of the Toughbook N1, announced exactly four years ago . The main change in the smartphone is just illustrated by the word Flat in the title: this is the rejection of a laser barcode scanner. It stood out from the body by one and a half centimeters, so without it the novelty really became flatter. Well, barcodes can be scanned with a regular 8-megapixel camera (with a “dedicated gunner”, whatever that means; perhaps Panasonic called laser autofocus that way).
In addition to ditching the barcode scanner, Panasonic has also moved the Toughbook FZ-N1 to a newer version of Android: 11 instead of 8.1. Other specs remain unchanged and are nothing less than surprising in 2022: 4.7″ HD screen (16:9), 5MP front camera, 9W charging, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset. The price of the smartphone is still unknown , but the circulation is known: 90 000. They will be sold mainly to the corporate sector – Panasonic positions the Toughbook FZ-N1 Flat as a device for retail and warehouses.
