Google is constantly investing significant resources in the development of accessibility , in order to maximally adapt its products and services for people with special needs. One of the most notable of these features isautomatic subtitles on YouTube – the video service automatically adds subtitles in the original language to the video using speech recognition technology and, if necessary, can translate them into the viewer’s native language. And now YouTube quietly added support for the Ukrainian language, so now the automatic subtitles feature has become even more useful for the Ukrainian audience of the largest video hosting and the second most visited site in the world.
Users in social networks drew attention to the addition of Ukrainian language support for the YouTube Live Caption automatic subtitle function . The function really works – to make sure of this, it is enough to find a video in another supported language and enable automatic subtitles in Ukrainian in the settings.
Yes, it does not work in the best way, but this is also typical for other languages, since the capabilities of modern machine translation technologies do not allow jumping higher. YouTube does not hide this and explicitly warns about these translation features. 
At the same time, developers are constantly improving speech recognition technology – this gives hope that over time the quality of subtitles and their translation will improve.
In general, it’s nice that Google is paying more and more attention to the Ukrainian segment of YouTube – in the spring, for example, the Sponsorship feature was turned on for Ukrainian users . This cannot but rejoice. At this rate, we will reach the Ukrainian office of YouTube.
