Xiaomi at a special event announced the second generation of the Xiaomi Mix Fold foldable smartphone. The first rumors about him appeared immediately after the release of the first generation, but the release took place only now. The main features of the sequel were the low thickness of the case (5.4 mm in the unfolded state), as well as the actively developing collaboration with Leica. The general format has been preserved – it is a classic Fold with a large internal display and a relatively small “sausage” (6.56″, 21:9) on the outside. Worked on the design: the display fold now has a smaller radius, and the hinge has become more reliable. The main display is 8.02″ “Eco OLED” panel protected by ultra-thin glass (0.03mm). Implemented a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120 Hz.
The hardware component corresponds to the gadget class: Mix Fold 2 is built on Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which is complemented by fast (6400 Mbps) LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage. There are Harman / Kardon stereo speakers, NFC, and a 4500 mAh battery is charged from a 67 W unit (40 minutes is enough). The MIUI Fold firmware is responsible for the software component – a special edition of the Xiaomi user interface for this category of gadgets.
The Leica camera mentioned above is a triple block, where everything is according to the established Chinese tradition: a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 main sensor, a 13-megapixel wide lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. There are several portrait modes, and the color rendition has been improved in collaboration with Leica.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is offered in three configuration options, each offering 12 GB of RAM. The top variant immediately includes 1 TB of internal memory, and its price is 11,990 yuan. Probably, like the first generation Mix Fold, the model will remain exclusive to China.
