Google started updating nine Pixel models to Android 13 yesterday, promising to update all instances within the next few weeks. There was no smooth start for the new “robot”. A thread has opened on the Reddit forums where Pixel 6 users complain that instead of Android 13, they received a 2 GB update from Android 12. When users began to figure out what happened, they found out by the build number that the July ” patch”, which, for some reason, weighs as much as 2 GB. Complaints come mainly from Europe. One of the users who decided to install this fake update claims that after installation it became possible to upgrade to Android 13, so it probably boils down to an extra two gigabytes of traffic. If this is a problem, it makes sense to wait for a fix from Google.
