At the end of September, Microsoft plans to release updates for Windows 11. The company was expected to call the update 22H2. But it looks like the update will get a different name – Windows 11 2022 Update. The mention of this appeared in the finished release of the next version of Windows 11.
Twitter user @XenoPanther noticed the name “Windows 11 2022 Update” in the start window that appears when setting up a new PC.

If this is true, the names of subsequent updates will become intuitive and understandable. In addition, moving to yearly naming of Windows 11 updates makes sense if Microsoft plans to reduce their number.
Prior to this, Windows has been known to use various name variations, including Update Creators for Windows 10, Windows 10 May 2021 Update, and Windows 10 21H2.
According to The Verge sources, some company representatives wanted to go even further and name updates after famous people or animals, but management decided that this could confuse users.
The update is expected to see the light of day on September 20th . The update brings a number of new security features, additional touch gestures, and an updated task manager. In addition, the company will implement the Live Captions accessibility feature for the deaf and hard of hearing, as well as adding the ability to drag and drop items to the taskbar.
Microsoft itself has not yet officially announced the release date of the new version of Windows 11.
