As the release date of God of War Ragnarok approaches, more and more information about this project appears on the network. The Game Informer resource published material containing screenshots of the game and some details about the combat system.
The developers have added a set of elemental attacks related to various weapons that Kratos can wield. In God of War Ragnarok, pressing the Triangle button while holding the weapon will infuse the Leviathan Ax with frost for the Frost Awakening attack, and Blades of Chaos will be infused with fire for the Whip attack. Each attack will deal additional damage as a result of freezing or setting enemies on fire.
God of War Ragnarok also features different types of shields, each with their own distinct set of moves. For example, players who parry at the very last moment with the Dauntless shield can then activate a powerful counterattack to stun nearby enemies and push them away from Kratos. On the other hand, the Stonewall shield does not allow you to parry, but it gives you the ability to absorb hits. A fully charged Stonewall shield slams into the ground, knocking down nearby enemies. But when absorbing damage, this shield becomes more unstable. There will be more shields in the game and players are advised to carefully weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each shield.
God of War Ragnarok is scheduled to release on November 9th for PlayStation 4 and 5.
