CD Projekt Red has announced the release of the first major addition to the game Cyberpunk 2077. It is called Phantom Liberty and will be released in 2023.
CD Projekt Red describes Phantom Liberty as a new “spy thriller” for Cyberpunk 2077, set in a new district of Night City. The published trailer does not contain many details. But still, something can be gleaned from it. Thus, the player character V swears an oath “to faithfully serve the New United States of America”, while the voice of Johnny Silverhand convinces that this was a bad idea. Actor Keanu Reeves confirmed live on Night City Wire that he will return to voice Johnny in the new expansion. The trailer also shows a small piece of gameplay.
The Phantom City expansion will be available for the Google Stadia, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC versions of Cyberpunk 2077, but apparently not for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. A new 1.6 patch for the game, known as the Edgerunners Update, will be the final update for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077. The Edgerunners patch is named after its tie-in to the Netflix animated series , which will be released next week.
Cyberpunk 2077 came out at the end of 2020, but it contained a lot of bugs. The developers spent most of the next year fixing them and optimizing the game, which delayed work on the expansion.
