Meta will be hosting its annual Connect conference dedicated to virtual reality projects on October 11 this year. This was announced by the CEO of the company Mark Zuckerberg.
Zuckerberg supplemented his post on Facebook with a photo in which he is captured with a new headset. Probably codenamed Project Cambria , this device is a highly anticipated and powerful mixed reality headset.
Last month, Zuckerberg said in an interview that the company plans to release Project Cambria in the fall. It is a headset with the processing power to capture the real world with external cameras and display it inside the headset in real time and in color. The novelty will be significantly more expensive and more functional than the best-selling headset Meta Quest 2. According to preliminary data, Project Cambria will cost $800 or more.
In addition to Project Cambria, Meta is also expected to discuss updates to Horizon Worlds, its social networking app for the metaverse.
Meta has not announced the conference program, but the event is expected to last all day. It will be broadcast online.
Meta’s Project Cambria VR headset has been compared to a ‘facial laptop’ and is slated for release this year
