Just this morning , information appeared about the upcoming release of the first story addition to the game Cyberpunk 2077 called Phantom Liberty. But after a few hours it became known that this add-on will be the only major DLC.
This is stated in the commentary to the Phantom Liberty trailer, published on the official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel. First, a comment from an enthusiastic fan of the game appeared under the video:
“I’m very intrigued by this expansion, hopefully more will come out in the future as this game has a lot of potential.”
Soon this comment was followed by a response from the channel administration , which states that there will be no other additions:
“I’m glad to hear that we’ve piqued your interest! ? As for the future, Phantom Liberty is the only planned expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.”
As such, CD Projekt RED no longer plans to release major story expansions for Cyberpunk 2077. Consequently, Phantom Liberty will be the company’s last project based on its own REDengine engine. Earlier, CD Projekt Red announced that it was working on the next part of the Witcher video game series, and it will be based on the Unreal Engine 5 engine. The company planned to abandon its REDengine after the completion of work on Cyberpunk 2077 and expansions for the game.
