AMD announced the availability of FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.1, an improved version of its second-generation upscaling technology. The developers have updated the algorithm – they promise higher detail, increased stability and a reduction in unwanted phenomena such as the effect of “ghosting” and flicker.
The FSR 2.1 update is now available as a free download for game developers on GPUOpen.com, and the implementation mechanism for its support has remained unchanged. The first game to support FSR 2.1 is Farming Simulator 22. FSR 2.1 will also be part of the upcoming Hitman 3 update. The plug-in for Unreal Engine 4.26/4.27 and Unreal Engine 5 will also receive updates to support FSR 2.1 along with a number of additional improvements.

AMD also announced 11 games that have added or are expected to add FSR 2 support. Consequently, the total number of supported games has reached 45 in less than four months since the technology was launched. These games include Deep Rock Galactic, Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Scorn and more.
Thus, upscaling AMD FSR 2.0 and FSR 1.0 already supports (or will soon support) more than 130 games.
AMD FSR 2.0 and FSR 1.0 upscaling already (soon to support) over 120 games, and NVIDIA DLSS over 200 titles
- FSR 2.0 is the second generation of AMD’s proprietary open source spatial scaling technology that uses spatiotemporal reconstruction algorithms to restore details from previous frames (the first generation only processed the current frame). It’s easy to confuse it with the newer Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), but it’s a different technology .
- The main difference between FSR 2.0 and NVIDIA DLSS is that the AMD solution does not use neural networks for image processing, so the technology does not require specialized hardware and can also work on previous generation video cards. FSR 2.0 is supported by Radeon graphics cards based on the Polaris architecture (Radeon RX 460 and later) and NVIDIA Pascal models (GeForce GTX 10 series and later).
