IGN has released the first full trailer for the upcoming reboot of the cult sci-fi series Quantum Leap, which aired at the turn of the 80s and 90s.
The events of the sequel will unfold 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett went to the Quantum Leap accelerator and mysteriously disappeared. A new team of researchers returns to the program, hoping to unravel all the mysteries, and everything goes topsy-turvy, project manager Dr. Ben arbitrarily jumps into the past.
The Quantum Leap reboot starred Raymond Lee (Top Gun: Maverick and Kevin Can Go Fuck), Ernie Gadson ( Ghostbusters ) and Caitlin Bassett. Original show creator Donald P. Bellisario helped with the script and also co-produced.

In early 2022, NBC approved a pilot episode for a revival of Quantum Leap, and in May gave the green light for a full sixth season. It is not yet clear if the sequel will develop into a full-fledged series.
The Quantum Leap reboot is set to premiere on September 19, 2022. The show will air on NBC and Peacock streaming.

The original Quantum Leap series tells about the physicist Sam Beckett, who is stuck in time after an unsuccessful experiment with a quantum accelerator and testing the time travel hypothesis in his own life – the hero randomly moves through time and lives certain moments instead of other people in order to make a decision in response and change their lives for the better. He is helped by a friend and partner – Admiral Albert Kalavichi (aka Al), who appears in the past in the form of a hologram, as well as the Umnik supercomputer.
- Quantum Leap premiered on NBC on March 26, 1989 and ran for five seasons until May 5, 1993. The series is considered one of the best in history, at one time received 17 television awards from 43 nominations, including six Emmys and two Golden Globes.
