In China, the collection of pre-orders for the iPhone 14 quartet is in full swing. Authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared the first reports on the distribution of buyers’ interest in certain models of the series. The survey showed that the older iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, which received the most serious upgrade, “pulled the blanket over”: their total share of pre-orders is an incredible 85%.
But the iPhone 14 Plus, with which Apple decided to replace the mini models that failed in sales, is not doing well: less than 5% of all pre-orders. This means that the remaining 10-11% falls on the base iPhone 14. The analyst noted that older iPhone models have always been more popular in the early stages, however, such a serious dominance of “firmware” is associated with a new segmentation strategy, when all key innovations bypassed the base iPhone .
