Today in the review are two Anda Seat gaming chairs. One of the models belongs to a relatively affordable segment, and the second is a full-fledged flagship that carries all the latest developments of the brand.

In a partner material with Anda Seat , we will take a closer look at the materials, structure and features of the seats, as well as the experience of using them in conditions of permanent work from home.

Technology and production

All Anda Seat chairs are assembled at the same factory in China, which ensures quality control, manufacturing techniques and streamlined production.

The frame of the chair is made of steel, and the manufacturer provides a lifetime warranty for it , which already says a lot. The chairs themselves are guaranteed for 24 months.

As a filler in all Anda Seat models, Molded Foam foam is used, which is molded at the factory by casting into a mold. After the foam has been cast and cured, the case is laser cut at the factory to avoid errors that can occur when manually processing leather or fabrics. Next, the covers are sewn and put on the chairs, after which they carry out final tests and quality assessment and send them to the future owner.

Of the interesting collaborations , it is worth noting that all the players of the Ukrainian Navi use Anda Seat chairs, and the brand even released several models in a joint collaboration with our team. Also, since 2018, the company has been a sponsor of the Fnatic esports club.

Anda Seat pays special attention to the assembly process, the quality of materials and such trifles that the user usually does not think about until he sees them in high quality. This is noticeable in the tactile qualities of all the materials of the chairs, the location of the adjustment elements and even the seams, which you can see in detail in the photo.

Design, assembly and materials

Purely subjective, the Kaiser 3 is the most aesthetically pleasing office and gaming chair I’ve ever seen. This applies primarily to the overview version with gray linen upholstery. The chair looks expensive, stylish and strict. It will fit perfectly into almost any room design, without attracting too much attention, but standing out with its attractive appearance and quality of materials upon closer inspection. The total weight of the chair is 33 kg, which ensures a stable fit for a user weighing up to 200 kg.

The assembly is made at the highest level – nothing creaks, no backlash, seams and fabric fit at the highest possible level. For the first couple of days, you just want to touch the chair and swing on it, as if you had bought yourself a new toy. Special attention deserves the fact that the same materials are used for the upholstery of Anda Seat seats as for the upholstery of Mercedes-Benz cars, which already indicates the level of materials. There are versions of chairs using nappa leather, which almost doubles the final cost of the chair, but connoisseurs of leather furniture will appreciate this option.

After the start of the sale, a whole range of color schemes will be available for both the main upholstery of the seats and the armrests.

In terms of appearance, the Phantom 3 is inferior to the Kaiser 3, but it is worth noting that the upholstery materials for the conditionally more budgetary Phantom 3 use the same as for the more expensive Anda Seat Kaiser 3, so in terms of materials, the buyer definitely does not lose by purchasing a simpler chair, more on that below. The review configuration is made of creamy white eco-leather in the same understated style as the older model of the brand.

Back

The back of the Kaiser 3 is moderately firm. Since the frame of the chair consists of steel tubes, and the filler is high-grade Molded Foam, the seat is as comfortable as possible for sitting at the workplace and in the lying position. The chair is so comfortable to use that you can literally sleep in it – the backrest reclines to a horizontal position by 165 degrees (the minimum position is 90 degrees) and perfectly holds the user even with a rather large weight of 102 kg. The maximum weight that the Kaiser 3 can withstand is 200 kg. Phantom 3 can withstand up to 120 kg of weight.

Also noteworthy is the mechanism for adjusting the depth of the back bend, built into the Kaiser 3. The stop is adjustable by means of two rotating levers, thanks to which the user can individually adjust the bend of the chair according to the anatomy of his spine, which is undoubtedly a useful and convenient innovation. The back of the Phantom 3 reclines in the same way as the Kaiser 3, and this is enough for a comfortable reclining position, especially when paired with bundled pillows, but due to a different rocking mechanism (butterfly mechanism), rocking in the chair is not so convenient. The back of the Phantom 3 is adjustable from 90 to 165 degrees, just like the Kaiser 3.

armrests

The frame of the Kaiser 3 armrests is made entirely of chrome-plated metal with a plastic protective coating. The position is adjustable in three planes, and the covers are made of plastic covered with soft elastic rubber, which springs very nicely when pressed. The main distinguishing feature is magnetic mounts, which have a number of advantages. In addition to the obvious more simplified process of replacing caps (including caps of a different color), there is also an anti-stress toy factor, since magnetic caps are pleasant to remove and magnetize back while working, relaxing or watching TV shows in a sitting position. Armrests are fixed clearly, with easy free play.

Also, anyone can buy separately a stand for a laptop directly on the chair, which gives even greater variability in use. This option essentially turns the chair into a compact work or play space and eliminates the need for a desk for most use cases.

In Phantom 3 with armrests, everything is much simpler – covers made of the same tactilely pleasant rubber are rigidly fixed to metal mounts covered with plastic protection. The position of the armrests changes only in the vertical plane (height adjustment). In both cases, the dimensions of the armrests are more than enough for comfortable use, and for myself I don’t feel an urgent need for adjustment in three planes, but still, sometimes you want to change their position not only in height. The Phantom’s armrests are slightly stiffer than the Kaiser’s, which is easily explained by less mobility and does not affect ease of use.

Seat

The Kaiser 3 seat is made from the same memory foam as the backrest. The thickness of the seat has been reduced specifically to minimize pressure on the hips of the seated person, which is especially noticeable compared to the previous version of the model. The seat is moderately resilient and, thanks to its design, really minimizes stress, which in practice means a more comfortable position and the absence of stiff limbs. Thanks to the manufacturability of production and high quality materials, the chair feels exactly the way it should be – in all the time of use, I had no desire to make it harder or softer.

Inside the Phantom 3 is Memory Foam, which feels slightly less pliable and stiffer than the Kaiser fill, despite being the same technology and material as the older seats. Therefore, in the case of the Phantom, it is advisable to sit on it in the store before buying to make sure that its filler suits you. At the same time, Kaiser will suit the vast majority of users.

Swing mechanism, gas lift, cross

Comparing the two models in terms of the quality of the rocker mechanism is like comparing an S-Class car to a good average car: the Kaiser 3’s mechanism is smooth, flexible and ergonomic, while the Phantom 3’s is just soft and without jerks. On the Kaiser 3, you want to periodically swing like on a small relaxing ride, especially the first few days of use, when every time it seems that it is about to drop you. Naturally, nothing threatens the user, you just need to get used to the fact that the chair can do this. The Kaiser 3’s rocking mechanism provides a 30-degree tilt, which is very significant, especially given the weight and dimensions of the chair.

The gas lift is installed in the fourth class in both models, but there is nothing special to say about it. This is just a smooth mechanism that works without jerks typical of cheap models of chairs.

The base of the Kaiser 3 is made entirely of metal. Wheels with a polyurethane coating of kingsize size (wheel diagonal – 65 mm) are mounted on five beams. Wheels with a pleasant ride and tenacious coverage.

The Phantom 3’s D-pad is made of thick plastic, which is a little less durable than metal, but given the lighter weight, it’s not as critical. Five wheels are assembled on the same principle as the Kaiser, the only difference is the smaller diameter.

Switching between rest mode and reading mode on the Kaiser 3 is done with a single click of a lever located under the seat. The manufacturer also asks users to be especially careful when removing the bolt holding the back spring during seat assembly, since the mechanism is very powerful and can injure a person if it is carelessly removed from the slot (after removing the bolt hole is closed with a neat plastic insert, invisible on the general texture plastic).

Accessories

One of the main selling features of the chairs for me personally was the Anda Seat accessories, namely the Molded Foam lumbar pillow and the carbon-filled seat lining.

A foam lumbar pillow, again purely in my opinion, can generally turn any chair into an almost perfect one, the effect of this accessory on a comfortable fit is so strong and Molded Foam pillows are so pleasant to use. The pillow adapts to the user and provides maximum comfort in any position.

The charcoal lining eliminates all unwanted odors and provides extra ventilation, which needs no explanation as this option is nice in itself.

But what deserves an explanation and special attention is the neck pillow with magnets , which comes with the new Anda Seat Kaiser 3. The magnetic pillow cannot be purchased separately to be used with another gaming chair, and therefore it is one of the advantages of Kaiser. In all gaming chairs, neck pillows are used for the first time after the chair is assembled, and then they just hang like a useless load. But not in this case, since the Anda Seat pillow is not just made of memory foam, but it is also attached to the back with magnets that occupy a fairly large area. Thanks to this, the user can ideally position it so that the pillow is directly on the crook of the neck. This seems like an insignificant trifle, but in practice it turned out that this was not enough for the pillow under the neck to begin to benefit. Plus, a cooling gel area is sewn into the foam, the effect of which is well felt in the 30-degree heat. Well, as a bonus, the user can use a pillow made of tactilely pleasant materials as an anti-stress paired with interchangeable magnetic armrests.

User experience

Anda Seat Kaiser 3 is, without exaggeration, the most comfortable computer chair I have ever used for a long time. In confirmation of which, I wanted to keep Kaiser with me, thereby killing two birds with one stone, since with such a level of comfort, the need for a separate sofa-type chair for watching movies and reading would disappear by itself.

The highest level of comfort that allows you to forever forget about back pain while working and playing with a laptop, attention to detail, quality of accessories and materials that you want to touch when you just walk past the chair, make you fall in love with furniture, no matter how absurd it may sound. The absence of squeaks, backlashes and perfectly fitted parts only make you more convinced that you need this thing. The lumbar and neck pillows are worthy of special praise, despite how minor details they seem to be before use.

Phantom 3 does not evoke such emotions from use, but the high level set by the manufacturer makes you pay attention even to conditionally budget models. In fact, this is the same Kaiser, but with reduced functionality – a simpler rocking mechanism, less flexible armrest settings and less pleasant accessories. But it’s still a premium chair, with the same attention to detail and the same build quality and materials.

The cost of the seats is UAH 19,999 for Anda Seat Kaiser 3 Size XL and UAH 12,999 for Anda Seat Phantom 3 Size L.

Summing up

In a short time, you can become a fan of the Anda Seat brand, even when using a simplified chair model. The level of comfort provided by the older model Kaiser 3 deserves special attention. These models show 100% how comfortable a gaming chair can be. Yes, such purchases are not cheap, but comfort and health are definitely worth it.
