In March of this year, Samsung, which had been the leader in the Russian market for many years, suspended sales of smartphones in the country, and soon stopped official deliveries. As a result, the company’s share in the Russian market rapidly sank (9% versus 30% a year earlier), which is why Xiaomi became the leader in the second quarter of the year. This state of affairs could hardly suit the Korean tech giant, and new rumors point to the imminent return of the brand. According to a source close to Samsung, as well as a couple of interlocutors from retail, the company may return to the Russian market by the end of the year, Izvestia reports.
We are talking about the resumption of deliveries of gadgets to retailers and the restart of the official online store. The latter is also supported by the fact that Samsung recently updated the Russian website, adding the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 foldable novelties there. According to a source from a large retailer, the resumption of sales may take place as early as October. In addition, representatives of the “gray” market report a reluctance to import Samsung gadgets because of the likely imminent return to Russia. In a word, already now there are many indications that Samsung is interested in the revival of the Russian business.
