Microsoft is making the new version of Outlook for Windows available to all Office testers. The new Outlook for Windows app has a more web-like design. Work on the new design was carried out for several months, and earlier this year the testing process was launched .
Microsoft notes that the development team collected feedback from Office Insider members, listened to them, and “worked hard to improve the new Outlook for Windows.”
The new Outlook app for Windows now includes support for personal Outlook.com, Hotmail, or Windows Live email accounts. This was not in early betas. Microsoft has added a simplified Ribbon bar to improve the interface, and also introduced dynamic calendar column widths for more customization.
Members of the Office Insider program will be able to access the new app this week. In a few weeks, members of the Windows Insider program will also be able to join the test by using the switch in the Windows Mail app.
It should be noted that many functions have not yet been implemented in the application. So, Microsoft is still working on support for multiple email accounts in one app, support for third-party email accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo and iCloud. It is also expected to introduce work offline, folder search, support for web add-ons, native support for ICS. And there is still work to be done on additional visual updates and personalization options. Ultimately, after adding all the necessary features, Microsoft intends to replace the Outlook for Windows email client with this new application. But it is not yet clear when this will happen.
