iOS 16 is surprisingly rich in software issues. As soon as we had time to talk about a new bug, due to which the older iPhone 14 Pro refuse to turn on after a nightly charge , another one surfaced. There is a growing number of complaints on the Reddit forums that the Face ID system stops working after installing iOS 16 and newer. Judging by the records, this applies to completely different models: there are references to the iPhone X, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Smartphones together give the error “Face ID is not available, please try to set it up later.”
Technical support staff in most cases suggest that victims contact service centers or Apple Stores, and diagnostic tests call the hardware problem. In view of this, many users whose iPhone warranty has already expired were kindly offered repairs at the service center for impressive money ($375 is mentioned). Moreover, there is a case when the service center failed to carry out repairs and simply offered to buy a new iPhone for the full price. Apple has not yet commented, and therefore it is better to refrain from switching to iOS 16 and newer versions for now.
