Poland and Finland intend to promote the idea of confiscating Russian assets.
The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, again proposed to confiscate Russian assets on the territory of the European Union in favor of Ukraine. The head of the Finnish government, Sanna Marin, supported this idea.
According to Yle, Moravetsky called for tougher measures against Russia because of the war in Ukraine. Now Poland and Finland intend to promote the idea of confiscating Russian assets at the next EU summit.
“We have to hit Russia harder than it expects,” Moravetskyi said.

Freezing of Russian assets in the EU – what is known
As part of the sanctions that the USA, Japan and the countries of the European Union began to introduce due to the war in Ukraine, the EU began to freeze Russian assets.
On October 20, London froze Russian assets worth $20 billion. On October 31, the Czech Republic announced that it would confiscate Russian property already frozen in the country.
In turn, the President’s Office called on Western countries to hand over frozen assets of the Russian Federation to Ukraine, instead of looking for excuses.
According to the latest information, the EU has frozen Russian assets worth a total of 68 billion euros. Currently, the European Union is working on a mechanism for the confiscation of these assets in favor of Ukraine.
