As of the evening, only stabilizing outage schedules are used in 16 regions and in Kyiv.
Energy workers continue restoration work in many regions of Ukraine, overcoming the consequences of enemy missile attacks.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in an evening video message. The head of state warned that, in addition to stabilization schedules, emergency shutdowns may be applied.
“Regarding the energy front. Energy and utility workers in many regions continue restoration work in the network. We are also preparing responses to possible new terrorist attacks against our energy system,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, as of this evening in 16 regions and in Kyiv, only stabilization schedules of outages were applied.
“But we have to understand that in case of consumption jumps, emergency shutdowns are also possible,” the head of state added.
Attacks on the Ukrainian energy system
As reported, in October and November, Ukraine’s energy system was subjected to massive missile attacks by the Russian occupiers. According to expert estimates, 50% of energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine have been destroyed or damaged, and the amount of damage to NEC “Ukrenergo” is more than UAH 70 billion.
At the same time, the Ministry of Energy assured that the situation with energy supply in the country is under control. At the same time, Ukrainians are urged to reduce the load on the network.
Today, November 22, the head of NEC “Ukrenergo” Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said that there were no hydroelectric and thermal power stations in Ukraine undamaged by Russian missile attacks, and all substations were also hit.
Prime Minister Denys Shmigal also said that the situation in the Ukrainian energy industry remains difficult, but under control. 70 repair crews and more than 1,000 specialists are working to restore power grids damaged by Russian missiles and drones.
