These complexes could be located in the west of Ukraine.
The head of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party, Yaroslav Kaczyński, said that it would be better for the security of his country if Germany handed over Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, not Poland.
As he noted in an interview with “Polish Radio”, this is his personal opinion. But the transfer of these complexes to Ukraine would make it possible to shoot down Russian missiles more effectively.
“The proposal is certainly interesting. I want to note that I am expressing my personal opinion here, but I believe that it would be best for the security of Poland if the Germans transferred this equipment to the Ukrainians, trained the Ukrainian crews, provided that the batteries were deployed. in the west of Ukraine. Then it would allow, perhaps, to shoot down enemy missiles more effectively than with the S-300,” Kaczynskiy explained.
In his opinion, such a step would protect Poland from such events as in Przewodów, where a rocket fell.
“At the same time, if the Russians decided to attack us, it would also be a defense for us. I would consider such a decision optimal and it would show that the Germans are making a real change in relations, and not a certain act of a propaganda nature,” Kaczynski emphasized. .
Transfer of Patriot complexes to Poland: what is known
Germany has offered to transfer the Patriot missile defense system to Poland to help it defend its airspace. This happened after the incident with the fall of a rocket in the Polish village of Przewodów near the border with Ukraine.
Later it became known that Poland agreed to the transfer of these SAMs.
Military expert Roman Svitan commented on Germany’s decision to transfer Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Poland. The Colonel of the Armed Forces believes that this air defense system will cover both the Polish and Ukrainian skies at the same time.
