From December 1, 2022, “Kyivstar” will change the conditions for some subscribers of the prepaid and contract form of service – the operator will increase the subscription fee and increase the volume of services included in the package. We are talking about tariff plans from previous lines, where the conditions have not changed for 2 or more years.
The operator partially compensates for the increase in subscription fees by increasing the volume of services in these tariffs: on average, 2 times more for mobile Internet or minutes for calls to other networks, or Superpowers Additional services that each customer can connect without extra charges according to their needs. Unfortunately, the operator did not provide a complete list of tariffs in which the conditions change, not to mention a table with a detailed comparison of the changes, so we proceed from what is known.
Which tariffs of “Kyivstar” will increase in price, by how much and when
- Contract subscribers (individuals) — from December 1: this refers to tariff plans of Kyivstar 4G, Smart, Bezlim and others. Subscribers will definitely receive an SMS message with details about the new conditions no later than 7 days before the changes.
- Prepaid subscribers – from December 7: tariff plans of Bezlim Social Network, Communication without limits, Kyivstar Comfort 2018 and others. Subscribers are also promised to be informed by SMS with details about the new conditions no later than 7 days before the changes. It is reported that from December 7, they will receive additional services, for example, 100 more minutes for calls to other networks and/or 5 GB of mobile Internet. On average, subscribers will receive twice as many minutes or gigabytes in tariff plans, the company reports.
- From December 1, the amount of the monthly subscription fee for the Kyivstar Home 4G prepaid tariff will change. Currently, it is UAH 155.
- Contract subscribers who have a connected SIM service for devices will be able to use it for UAH 1/day (the promotional price was UAH 0.00 until now).
The operator has already started sending relevant service SMS to subscribers and informing about changes. You can evaluate the changes using the example of “Bezlim” and “Kyivstar 4G” contact tariffs. In the first, the subscription fee increased from UAH 175 up to 250 hryvnias per month, in the second – from UAH 150 to UAH 250 per month.
How the company explains the tariff increase
“Kyivstar” notes that for 8 months since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, they did not change the cost of their tariffs and, on the contrary, provided socially significant services for free, in particular in roaming and de-occupied territories (the operator says that since February 24, it has provided subscribers with free services and bonuses by more than UAH 570 million). Since the beginning of the year, “Kyivstar” has invested more than UAH 3.5 billion in telecom infrastructure — the restoration of destroyed base stations in the liberated territories, the construction of new ones (more than 430 new ones were built throughout Ukraine), the purchase of more powerful generators and batteries for autonomous power supply of equipment. The company explains that they are increasing the cost of individual tariffs in order to continue providing mobile and Internet services, build new base stations, update equipment,
The operator also draws attention to the fact that the client has the option of changing their tariff for free to any other one from the current line that best meets their needs in terms of service volume and cost.
Smart Money service
In a separate press release, “Kyivstar” announced that from December 1, 2022, all Smart Money services will no longer be available, namely the transfer of funds from a mobile account to a card account, to another operator’s mobile account, payment from a mobile account for utility payments, transport and others services, including the “Smart Money” mobile application. The company explained this decision by changing the development strategy. At the same time, the operator will focus on other directions, which are currently considered priorities — the restoration of infrastructure destroyed as a result of a full-scale war, the development of 4G, the deployment and modernization of the “Domashnyi Internet” wired Internet network, the development of the Kyivstar TV online television platform and other more popular products.
Earlier, “Kyivstar” decided to close the user’s account on the website – from December 1, the “My Kyivstar” application will become the only service for controlling costs and managing services/tariffs.
