He also called the fact that Russia retains the right of veto nonsense.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that Russia should not participate in any vote at the UN on issues of its aggression.
As he noted in his speech at the meeting of the UN Security Council, it is necessary to restore justice within the United Nations, since the Russian Federation is obstructing the work of the Security Council itself.
“Finally, justice must be restored within the UN structures themselves: a terrorist state should not participate in any vote on the issues of its aggression, its terror. It is a dead end when the one who caused the war, when the one who is responsible for the terror, blocks any attempt by the UN Security Council to fulfill its mandate,” the head of state emphasized.
He also added that it is “nonsense” that the right of veto is reserved for someone who “wages a criminal war”.
“We need to lead the world out of this impasse. It is absolutely possible. The world should not be held hostage by one international terrorist,” Zelenskyy said.
Meeting of the UN Security Council regarding Ukraine: key points
On November 23, 2022, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, initiated an urgent convening of the UN Security Council due to the massive Russian missile attack on Ukrainian cities.
During the meeting, the permanent representative of the US to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, stated that the targeted missile attacks of the Russian Federation from Ukrainian critical infrastructure facilities are a shameful escalation of the war. She noted that such a strategy of Russia is “inhumane”.
At the same time, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN Geng Shuang called on Ukraine and Russia to start negotiations. According to him, the parties should “show restraint so that their actions do not intensify the confrontation.”
