The visual component of the game fell during the days of the PS2.
Bloggers and journalists often turn down the graphics in games as much as possible to see how terrible they will look. Previously, such a trick was played with God of War 2018, and now it is the turn of the sequel – God of War Ragnarök.
Attention: the video contains spoilers for the plot of the game.
The author of the YouTube channel Speclizer undertook to demonstrate the “potato” mode in a fresh action game. How exactly he was able to deteriorate the graphics in the project is unknown. This is usually done on a PC using special programs, such as NVIDIA Profile Inspector.
In any case, the enthusiast has achieved his goal. He turned the visually gorgeous God of War Ragnarök into a jumble of sharp geometry. The game is naturally painful to watch. Character models have lost all processing, and in some places even body parts. Kratos’ beard has thinned out a lot, and Thor’s face is made up of just a few polygons.
The facial animations are also almost completely gone, although the movements of the characters remain quite smooth. Things are not better with the environment: a lot of soapy textures appeared on the locations, detailing almost completely disappeared, and individual objects merged into a single colored mass.
