The head of Equatorial Guinea has been in power for more than 40 years.
In Equatorial Guinea, 80-year-old Teodoro Obiang Ngem Mbasogo was allegedly re-elected to the post of president for the sixth time.
During the presidential elections, which took place on November 20, 95% of voters voted for the current president, Vice President and his son Teodoro Ngema Obiang Mange claimed on Twitter, writes Reuters.
According to the agency, having won the next election, the president of Equatorial Guinea secured the status of the longest-serving leader.
It is worth noting that Teodoro Obiang Ngema Mbasogo came to power as a result of a coup – in 1979, he overthrew the dictatorial regime of his uncle Francisco Macias Ngema.
Since then, he has always allegedly won elections with more than 90% of the vote, but international observers have always doubted the veracity of the election results.
The president of Equatorial Guinea is credited with unheard of wealth and accused of doing little to fight poverty, suppressing dissent and fighting political opponents with illegal means.
The accusations against the head of this country are the same as those leveled against the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. However, Obiang has been in power for over 40 years, while Putin has ruled Russia for just over 20 years.
We will remind you that at the end of October, rosZMI reported that the Russian authorities began preparing for the presidential elections, which should be held in 2024.
