Zaporizhzhia NPP was headed by a former engineer of “Energoatom”.
In the tenth month of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Federation appointed a new “director” of the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP.
As the Russian Interfax reports, according to the advisor to the general director of the Rosenergoatom concern Renat Karchaa, Zaporizhzhia NPP was headed by a former engineer of the Ukrainian Energoatom company.
“The new director of the ZNPP and the first deputy general director of JSC, the operating organization of Zaporizhzhya Power Plant, became Yury Oleksiyovych Chernychuk, who held the position of chief engineer in the coordinate system of his former employer, the NAEK concern,” Karchaa said.
Karchaa also reported that senior positions in the management of ZANP are occupied by representatives of the former team who signed the “contract”.
The situation at the ZNPP:
Since March 2022, the ZNPP and the satellite city of Energodar have been under occupation.
In September, experts from the IAEA mission arrived at the station. Its director general, Rafael Grossi, proposed to the UN Security Council to create a security and protection zone there.
In October, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, issued a “decree” on the assignment of the Zaporizhia NPP.
On November 23, due to another attack by Russia from the energy system of Ukraine, Zaporizhzhya NPP went into full blackout mode.
On November 27, the president of “Energoatom” Petro Kotin said that the invading troops may be preparing to leave the territory of the ZNPP, but Russia denied this information, saying that the occupying troops have no intention of leaving the territory of the plant.
