The average amount of payment increased significantly (by 28%) and amounted to UAH 839.
This year, on Black Friday, Ukrainians made almost a third less purchases than last year.
This was announced by the Ukrainian Processing Center (UPC), which analyzed the data on the purchases of cardholders of 19 Ukrainian banks on “Black Friday” on November 25 and compared it with the figures of the sale day last year.
“The number of purchases decreased by 30%, and cardholders spent 10% less that day. It should be noted that the average amount of payment increased significantly (by 28%) and amounted to UAH 839,” the report says.
According to the study, payments at points of sale and stores compared to 2021 decreased both in number and turnover: by 36% and 24%, respectively. And the average check amount was UAH 335, which is 19% more than last year’s figure.
On the other hand, Ukrainians made fewer purchases in online stores (by 12%), and cash turnover decreased by 4% compared to last year. It is noted that the average amount of a transaction on the Internet was equal to UAH 1,916, having increased by 9% over the year.
“This year, the total number of payments during Black Friday sales is significantly different from last year’s indicators: Ukrainians made fewer purchases and spent less, but the average amount of the transaction increased significantly,” the analysts concluded.
Black Friday – what is known
Black Friday in Ukraine came from the USA. Traditionally, it is the Friday after Thanksgiving, a public holiday in the USA, which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.
On “Black Friday” many stores of various directions and levels delight customers with discounts on their goods. Each store determines how many days sales will last, and usually such a period of discounts is 3-5 days.
