HBO and Sony have released a new trailer for the serial adaptation of The Last of Us – Naughty Dog’s cult game. The video showed many characters, intense moments and fragments of the introduction.
The trailer begins with a conversation between the main characters – Joel and Ellie. The first says that it is worth moving on for the sake of the family. At the same time, the screen shows how the protagonist tried to escape with his daughter Sara at the beginning of the pandemic. Ellie asks if Joel considers her family. However, he calls the girl “cargo”.
The trailer then plays a series of scenes from different parts of the series. The audience was shown how Joel hides from the meadows in a dark building, an encounter with cannibals and a confrontation with an armed gang in trucks. There are still fragments from the Left Behind expansion, which will most likely be presented in flashbacks.
The video also featured many characters. For example, Bill, Joel’s schizophrenic acquaintance, is present in several scenes. And Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson flash in separate frames. They played the main characters in the game of the same name. The first became one of the cannibals in the series, and the second, according to fans, became Ellie’s mother.
The Last of Us series – plot and actors
- The screenplay of the game shows a world where there has been an outbreak of an epidemic of a mutating parasite fungus that turns people into zombies. In the center of the plot is an experienced cynical smuggler, Joel, who lost his daughter at the dawn of the pandemic. Now he will have to transport a cheeky girl, Ellie, who is immune to the disease, across the country.
- The roles of Joel and his companion will be performed by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay, respectively. These actors have already starred together in another successful show from HBO – “Game of Thrones”.
- The showrunner of the film adaptation was Craig Mazin, who created the series “Chernobyl”. The author of the original game – head of the Naughty Dog studio Neil Druckmann – also participates in the production.
- The show is filmed in Canada. HBO plans to spend $200 million on the production of the first season of the film.
- The first series of the show will be released on January 15 on HBO Max.
