The army of Belarus may return its weapons against the Kremlin’s proteges.
In the case of the removal of the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenka, and his replacement by the secretary of the Security Council of the country, Oleksandr Volfovych, the Belarusian military will not fight against Ukraine.
As the Russian oppositionist, publicist Andriy Piontkovsky noted on the Espresso channel, the army of Belarus will probably return its weapons against the Kremlin’s proteges.
According to him, despite understanding that Lukashenko is a dictator and a criminal, Belarusians appreciated him for his fight against Putin and at least formal signs of the country’s independence.
“The change of Lukashenka to this Volfovich will immediately mean that there is no independence left. The Belarusian army will most likely turn its weapons against the Kremlin’s proteges, especially since there is such a trigger as a fairly active Belarusian corps fighting in Ukraine. Next Putin’s crime, like all his moves during the last month, only aggravates his situation,” Piontkovsky noted.
The threat from Belarus: what is known
On Saturday, December 3, 2022, at a meeting with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu, Lukashenko stated that the Belarusian military is participating in the military training of Russian “mobs” at training grounds in Belarus. It was announced publicly for the first time.
On December 1, HUR representative Vadym Skibytsky noted that the creation of a powerful offensive group similar to the one that was deployed in January-February has not been recorded on the territory of Belarus. Although the threat of the use of the “Union State” group remains, Russia does not have enough weapons for this.
Earlier, the representative of the press service of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov, explained that the information that Belarus is allegedly preparing an offensive is being spread specially. This is how the aggressor country tries to scare Ukrainians.
