Apple will allow European users to independently repair their “apple” devices, expanding its special program launched earlier this year in the United States.
According to Bloomberg, the self-repair program for Apple equipment now works in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Great Britain. Ukraine is not on the list.
Original parts can be ordered at selfservicerepair.com. Repair instructions and necessary tools are also available there. At the moment, you can buy new spare parts for iPhone SE, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and some laptops on the website. The store’s catalog also has the necessary repair parts, including screws and glue.
- A battery replacement kit for iPhone 13 will cost 70 euros (~2700 UAH),
- the camera can be bought for 160 euros (~6,200 UAH), and the screen for 280 euros (~11,000 UAH),
- tools can also be rented – for 60 euros (~2300 UAH).
Apple has not yet included the iPhone 14 or Mac computers with the new M2 chips in the program.
iPhone 14 is the most repairable iPhone since iPhone 7
Previously, iFixit specialists disassembled the new iPhone 14 and confirmed that the younger models of the line were equipped with a removable back panel – this significantly facilitates their repair.
But the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max were pumped up – they kept the old internal design, so this repairability is a “feature” of standard models.
