In the spring of this year, Apple launched a self-repair service for devices. At that time, the service itself and the parts store were limited to the United States. Currently, the geography of the service has been expanded to include some European countries. The company announced that original Apple parts, tools and self-repair guides will be available to customers in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
As in the US, customers in Europe will be able to rent repair tools instead of buying them. You can also get discounts by sending replacement parts to Apple for further repair or rework.
Self-repair by users is available for iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE smartphones of the third generation, as well as laptops based on Apple’s own processors. The service offers about 200 individual parts and tools, as well as official repair manuals. Components are sold at the same price as in the network of authorized repair shops. For example, an iPhone 13 battery costs £70.78 (€77.04) and a £24.16 (€26.26) discount is offered when you return an old battery. An iPhone 13 display costs £282.28 (€327.11), with a return discount of £34.85 (€40.32).
While self-repair is now possible in more countries, Apple still encourages users to seek the services of a professional repairman whenever possible. The company notes that the program is intended for “customers who have experience repairing electronic devices” and that “visiting a professional repair service provider with certified technicians using genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable method of repair.”
